Joe, =09I went down to the nearby campus book store and bought a mechanical pencil that had almost no metallic parts to it. Even after disassembly I could only spot one piece of metal in the thing and it only cost me $1.95. I got the .7mm lead size and have been using the same pencil for 14 months now with only occasional reloads of lead and no rusting has been noticed. I use HB lead which is the same as #2 and the pancil I got has a built in retractable eraser and I have not gotten anywhere near the end of the eraser stick. =09Hope this helps.
