The instruction book explains it.  It is hard to describe without 
pictures or something, but the shop where he bought it should be 
willing to do it for free.
And, before George beats me to it..what is he doing diving a BCD he 
doesn't know how to operate?!~?!?  Dad isn't a stroke is he?
