Dear George, I don't like the fact that I have to detect and react to a sensation that I might not detect and react to until it's too late. I understand that not all people respond the say way and some don't feel bad at all as they are conditioned to CO2. You know how people used to dive until the reg got hard to breath? Give me the gauge/sensor/alarm anyday. I'm not saying any rebreather is a great product that you should run out and buy. The companies will have to backup the product they make with demonstrated sucess or I will consider using one as running an expirement. I'd say that even the proven co. can make a bad product when they go to a new model. Simply put, it's your life. As for why I want a rebreather that is safe and works, are you joking? Getting ride of the bubble noise for myself (so I can enjoy the peace) and tons of tanks on the boat would be great. Why I could forget about a compressor all together and simply use a Genesis 120 as a supply tank along with the O2, Argon, and He ;^) Warm air in cold Lake Superior! Seriously, the flexibility is incredible There will be an instructor in Michigan for the CCR500 in the near future. You join the military George, you might just get rid of all the pot smokers in it. I'll be gone after Friday for a while doing my diving/camping thing, so find some other weeners to cook!--DD David Drake EDS/SATURN Infrastructure 8-320-4190 on GMnet Spring Hill, TN USA Internet: saturn.ddrake05@gm*.co* ______________________________ Reply Separator _________________________________ Subject: Re:Rebreathers, worthy yet? Author: gmiiii (INET.GMIIII) at DIAMOND Date: 6/26/96 7:03 AM Dear Dave, The level of CO2 is not worth a sensor - you can tell immediately that it is high, when you felllike there is not enough gas in the workld for you to breath. Units that have a high O2 content intending to "average" a lower output are nothing more than metabolic roulette , in both the hyperoxic and hypoxic directions. Units using electronics must be made properly. This leaves one unit - the military MK16 of EX19, or the civiallian versios thereof - the Biomarine stuff. If a company cannot make a single working product that is not a piece of shit, what makes you think they should build rebreathers? A far better question is, "what do you use a rebreather for?"?? If you join the miltary, they will give you one, and train you properly. They will also give you guns and other things.
