Subject: Which Oxygen?

I can understand that a single manufacturer (US or UK) who supplies
industry and medical O2 would have a single production line for both and
the same standards on purity and extraneous gasses. But why would
someone who only supplies O2 for welding bother to keep carbon monoxide
out of the gas? It seems that this could be big trouble for the diver in
some locations?
