Think of all the poor insurance company shareholders who are by law
entitled of their share of the profits of the insurance company. It
is only natural that the insurance company does what is it's
ultimate purpose in life, that is, show the fattest bottom line
possible. So don't blame the insurance company for being stupid, it
is not in it's interest to hire actuarial accountants that are
smarter than usual, lest they start to give heart attacks to the
board of directors!!!
(*NOT* a stab against actuarial accountants - I used to work with
some and, despite extreme geekness [only this time, it's for *RAW*
statistics instead of software], they're quite decent fellows that
do actually drink beer and chase [geeky] women, too!)
