Brett Gilliam called me this afternoon. He does not have e-mail and the Uwatec Office is moving to Maine next week, but I had fax'd him my concerns. He states emphatically that the limit of 1.6 ATA is the standard and that *no one* has ever had a problem at lower pPO2s who has not also exceeded the NOAA O2 partial pressure limits. He further states that if PADI wants to be more conservative, they can be so, but that his opinion is shared by DAN, Dick Rutkowski and of course, ITD and IANTD He is interested to hear from knowledgeable divers on this. I have promised to pass on any comments that I receive. He denies that the US Navy Divers handbook is referring to brief exposure O2 toxicity, but CNS toxicity when the NOAA pPO2 CNS clock limits have been exceeded. So has anyone any data? Has anyone counter or agreeing opinions? -ph
