The most important component of recompression therapy is HBO.  The main 
problem with HBO 'in water' is the danger of convulsions.  These are bad 
enough in a properly equipped RRC.  I guess if you are doing in-water 
recompression and are aware of/control the dangers of O2-induced convulsions 
then...
