DIN - Deutsches Institut fuer Normung Simply a German equivalent of the Compressed Gas Association (CGA). DIN valves are popular in many dive areas because: Captured 'O' ring allows higher pressures Captured 'O' ring reduces the possibility of a catastrophic air loss (which could have been prevented by proper maintenance) Cave divers like them because the possibility of knocking the first stage off the valve is limited On the last point... let's face it. Scuba diving is NOT rocket science. You can teach a monkey to dive in about thirty seconds flat. You spend most of your training time learning how to handle/correct/prevent the 'what-ifs'. A what if in cave diving is possibly bumping your valve. -- Robert Barkley NAUI Instructor URL: http://netnow.micron.net/~scuba E-Mail: Scuba@Mi*.NE*
