Cotton does not retain heat when wet. This is important with a
UNISUIT, which typically leaks water through the exhaust valve when
the suit is deflated.
Are they looking for cotton because it doesn't melt in a fire like
polypropylene?
I have 2 suggestions for thin undergarments suitable for firefighters'
undergarments:
1. a nomex jumpsuit of either the firefighters' or aviator's style.
Doesn't provide much insulation, but it's thin, comfortable and
doesn't soak up much water.
2. Wool, which retains heat when wet, doesn't melt when heated, and
won't support a flame.
Wildland fire fighters wear wool for warmth and nomex for protection.
They call cotton "killer cotton" because once it's wet they have to
think about becoming hypothermic.

Anybody know about 100% cotton undergarments (one piece). The Swedish fire
brigade has asked about such a thing but it seems hard to find... They use
the Poseidon Unisuit and want a thin undergarment.
