Just turn to page 44 of ANDI's current gas blender manual and read >"The >Formula for Partial Pressure Blending" to learn how to do it yourself. Hey stupid (Yes Stuart, that's you) -I was responding to this post: "I've just started an ANDI course (I like the instructor, can't care about the agency), and it seems the author of the manual is quite vehemently against the partial pressure filling method. The reasons I can understand, "how do you know whether a cylinder is O2 clean". I can have my cylinder cleaned, and then just fill it with my own compressor without anybody the wiser." I AM stating the truth-WHERE did I lie????? I did not post information to discredit ANDI. I simply replied to the above post to indicate that what ANDI preaches may not be what ANDI does. If it is in your manual, and if ANDI teaches what you say they teach, then maybe your instructor base is mis-informed. Looks to me like the Chief Operating Officer of ANDI has his work cut out?????? So take your head out of your you know what, and get with the program. As I have told you in the past, Stuart, I have nothing against you or ANDI. Just get with the program. >Do you not learn from your past mistakes? Again you confuse ANDI HQ with >Island Scuba Centers in an attempt to mislead. ANDI does not have a fill >station and does not employ technicians. It simply shares office space in >the >same building with Island. > First off, it is not a building, it is a house. And what past mistakes???? I'm the first to admit if I make one, but if you are going to accuse me of making one, please get specific. I'd like to know, and have nothing to hide from anyone. So speak up or shut up. And cut the bull about ANDI and Island Scuba. Sorry chief, it is one in the same. If it is under one roof, owned by the same people, which is the case, then it is the same. You cannot be a role model Stuart by owning one business that preaches one thing and owning another that reeks hipocracy. The divers on this list are smart enough to see through your smoke screen. >There is nothing wrong with blending by partial pressure. ANDI teaches it >and >we certify gas blenders to do it. If ANDI teaches it, then why is the author of your manual "quite vehemently against the partial pressure filling method" as mentioned by another post???? Seems to me there is more hipocracy brewing here. > >What ANDI does *not* advocate is using 100% oxygen through a scuba valve into >the scuba cylinder. We follow cylinder and valve manufacturer and supplier >guidelines and limit the fO2 to 50%. > I am lost here. You just stated, and I quote "There is nothing wrong with blending by partial pressure. ANDI teaches it and we certify gas blenders to do it." Stuart, you are drowning and don't know it. > >Use your common sense. I did when I left ANDI in 1991. >Would an organization scrutinized as much as we are, >teach one thing then practice another? Seems to me you are. Even in your own post you are confused. > Don't you think we know Island has >ex-employees that go to work elsewhere? Don't you think we know we are under >the microscope of those a whole lot sharper than the likes of you and >GasDiver? > I do not think you are under the microscope at all. You may want to be, but the only thing I know of that gets looked at under a microscope is some kind of a parasite or disease or something. >Grow up. If you want to boost your ego, do something positive for the >industry. > I think you should repeat this line when looking in the mirror. And again I ask, send me your materials (texts etc) so I can have the facts, as you present them, and then I can without a doubt be called a liar by you if I make an erroneous statement. Otherwise, get back under your microscope. And here are the facts Stuart: 1) I dont know you so I do not dislike you. You are wearing two hats under one roof (ANDI and ISC), and I am sure it is tough, so I am going easy on you. 2) You are the one who needs to grow up. If you would like to attack me, then do so. But please be factual. Don't hold back, I am a big boy and eat crow if I do make a mistake. But I'll admit it, and that is the difference between me and you, or anyone at ANDI or ISC. And I can back this up with facts, my own, not someone elses. Can you do the same??? 3) I am willing to read your material (ANDI), and return it you, so that I have the facts. I said this to you months ago, but I am still waiting. If it is important to you that I know the facts, as you call them, then share them with me. I'll return them when I am done. You are quick to attack, but slow to resolve. I sense this is a trait required at ANDI HQ. 4) I have no skeletons in my closet. My cards are always on the table. Those that know me understand that. I will never stab anyone in the back-only in the chest. So do not try and discredit me with horsecrap-get specific. I do. Shouldn't you?? 5) I do not dislike ANDI. I dislike Ed Betts. Some of my friends hold ANDI certifications, inluding instructors. We are still friends. I do dislike ANDI's approach, or is it yours, at being hippocritic. This is where IANTD stands apart. They lead by example. Right or wrong too. You try and play both sides of the fence. Sorry, pick a side and stick with it. But I suspect you can't. > >P.S. The Ceramatec analyzer is an excellent move for you. It's got a >higher >reliability in operation, no dangling wires or connectors, includes a splash >proof vinyl case, long life sensor with an estimated life expectancy of 3 to >5 >years in most applications, (you can save over $225 on sensor replacements), >and >it comes with a 2 year manufacturer's warranty, --including-- the sensor. Thanks. I just bought one and it works great. >But what do I know? > I am still trying to figure that out. Safe Diving, Raimo. May 8, 1996 9:45 pm
