I'd put the short battery life (~10 hours) down to coldwater diving, too. You
should
monitor the batteries carefully. My Nemesis II Nitrox "lost" a dive (ie failed
to log it)
when I failed to notice the TU battery had gotten pretty low in the middle of a
week of
diving. I now always carry 2 sets of spare batteries and a backup computer.

My first probe had to be replaced. The replacement is still pretty flaky.
Usually I
have to rotate the probe in the TU clips to ensure a good connection between
the TU's
screws and the metal bands on the probe. If I manage to get "dcitest" to
recognize the
probe twice in a row then there is a chance I can make connection with the
"analyst" after 2
or 3 attempts, but then only after it negotiates its baud rate to 9600.

Perhaps the part I find most frustrating analyst interface. I hate the way it
spews out a
meaningless comm error then kicks you back to DOS without asking if you want to
retry. I
already called Cochran and gave my feedback. They assured me it's being worked
on.
