I had an interesting afternoon. When I first got back to my office from lunch I had a message on my answering machine from Pete Butt. While talking to Pete, I got a call on my machine from George Irvine. Both of the calls were about the same thing, and I'm going to try to correct something here. A recent posting said that Jim King, Bill Stone, and Wes Skiles were responsible for printing out email messages from these internet mailing lists, taking them out of context, and producing them to officials here in Florida trying to get WKPP permits revoked. I know nothing about this. However, like other WKPP members, I have unsubscribed from these lists (I still read rec.scuba because it's not really technical in nature), so I missed this message. Pete and George have assured me that Wes Skiles has nothing to do with this email printing out thing. I know nothing about whether or not Jim King or Bill Stone are doing this at all, and could care less because I feel that the WKPP can stand on our accomplishments and have nothing to worry about. Let me make this clear for the record. Neither Wes Skiles or any company he does endorsements for are going out trying to get WKPP permits revoked. As a matter of fact the opposite might be said in some cases. The NSS-CDS and NACD have both committed themselves to supporting the WKPP. Dive Rite, a company that was apparently mentioned in this posting, has employees who have influence with the NSS-CDS that have been supportive of the WKPP (thank you Mr. Hires). There have been serious allegations made on these public forums before. I myself have been guilty of some, however my biggest bitches about products I wound up getting the opportunity to bring up with Lamar Hires a few weeks ago at Devil's Ear. My biggest complaint had been gap reels, I felt there wasn't a decent one on the market. I had the opportunity to talk with Lamar about my gripes, and he informed me of the changes that Dive Rite is putting in place in regards to the reels, and other new developments that will help improve the quality of their products. His attitude impressed me because he didn't blow me off, but rather he spent the time to talk with me and tell me what they are fixing and what went wrong. Well, that's about all I wanted to say. I hope to avoid wasting anymore bandwidth because I realize probably more then needed has already been wasted. Ken Sallot WKPP Support Diver
