Subject: The Silence of the WKPP...
You know, I have to say one thing: It is most unfortunate that people have
to resort to smear campaigns to get their way.

I don't know the particulars, and I don't know any of the parties involved,
but I will say that George's comments in this forum provided me with some of
the most interesting information, and entertaining reading of any other
member of the list.

I know there are a lot of people who got pissed off with his responses, but
you gotta hand it to him, he had style. He (and the other WKPP members) also
had the goods to back up their attitudes, which is rare in ANY business you
could mention.

Not being a caver, I don't know if anyone could do it better than the WKPP
boys, I still regret not being able to try my 400 horse power plutonium
driven 240 knot scooter in the cave system, but I sure do admire what Geo.
and his group do "each and every weekend".

Sure, he's not very diplomatic sometimes, and has even reamed me a new one on
occasion, but taken in the light of the ferocity that he defends the safe
"way" of diving caves, and his obvious desire not to carry any bodies out of
the cavern systems, it is somewhat understandable.

Besides, we are all supposed to be big boys now, and as such are free to
explore the world in our own unique way. What I don't understand (because no
one has explained it yet) is why the three gentlemen listed as the
antagonists in this Italian Opera want to dive the WKPP project at all. Is
it the coolest cave system in the world, or something? Aren't there other
places to explore and make your mark? Or is it something personal?

Whatever the case, I'm sorry that we won't be getting updates on their
progress. I personally think cavers are either all mad, or have balls made
of aviation-grade titanium.

In the words of the great philosopher and intellect of our time, "Can't we
all just get along?..."

(oops. Now I've said something offensive. Someone will now try and keep me
from diving in my pool...).

Kevin
