This is, in short, a tragedy. Although I manily lurk on techdiver and
cavers, there have been times when I have asked questions and gotten prompt,
serious, correct, and sometimes even courteous answers to my questions from
WKPP members. They have, as a whole, helped me understand the intricaies of
cave and tech diving better than anyone, and I DO NOT want to see them go.
As one of Carl's "up and coming cave divers", it bothers me that politics of
this sort, ie mudslinging, has once again made it into the diving arena.
Now I have to sit back and watch two of my mentor groups go head-to-head in
a contest to see who gets to map a cave. I expected better from Mr. Skiles,
but I guess we all get let down occassionally.

To the WKPP members: PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE stay around! You are the most
able body of cave divers around, and the information and service you provide
to those of us still in the early stages of learning is invaluable!
Admittingly, this transgression cannot go unnoticed, but is this the only
way to settle this? I sincerely hope not.

To the three divers pending approval: Fuck you. Your names were among the
divers that I most admired. My fault. Bring in all the SMD posts you want,
just make sure you edit out the parts where WKPP divers helped us newer
divers. You wouldn't want to make the top cave diving and exploration team
in the US, if not the world, look good after everything they had done for
all of us.

Seeing such posts as these come over my e-mail saddens me greatly. Well,
let the divers invloved in the approval try to start a pissing contest, if
they like. Hopefully, WKPP will be recognized for the excellent
organization it is, and not associated with this crap. In the meantime,
I'll follow Carl in his recommendation not to purchase from companies who
support (directly or indirectly) activities like this. And I'll make sure
that all the cavers around here who aren't on this list get the message,
too. This is all I have to say about it.
