Years ago Luxfer sold some tanks that leaked visibily from cracks in 
the thread area. 3cm, however, is much farther down the neck than that 
problem was.

I heard a leak and was somewhat amazed to see a blister of paint remove
itself and air escape from through the cylinder wall about 3cm below the
valve.
