The question is, what are you going to use it for?  These things are expensive
and definitely more dangerous to use than open circuit.  You should get
some definite benefit for your mission to justify the cost and risk.  
If this unit solves your problem then great.  If not, it doesn't matter how
simple they are.  In my (still limited) experience they are not stealthy
enough for the type of photography I do.
