Greg Bulling writes: In Australia, the Faber tanks are stamped with a 232 bar (~3400psi) fill pressure. My understanding is that the 15L Faber used here are the same tank as the Faber 95 used in the states, only filled to 2640 psi. SNIP> One way of seeing if it is the same tank with the same wall thickness is if they are the same TARE weight. Faber 15l/232bar tanks sold in the UK are stamped at about 16.3 to 16.6kg I believe the Faber 95s are 37lbs (16.9kg), so it is likely they are the same but de-rated to comply with US design standards. I also recall seeing a message from Joan Coval (26/3) that Pressed Steel "HP" 120s are also 3500psi WP _and_ about 38lbs. So maybe the US design standards have been relaxed since the Faber 95s were brought out. This is all assuming the same quality/alloy steel is used. We could do with a metallurgist to chip in about what different steel alloys can be used and their effect on the rated WP. Bill.Dyer@mi*.co*.uk*
