Today in conversatons with Lamar Hires, CDS Chairman, Dave Miner of WKPP
and The Twin Dees / Weeki Watchie Project was able to finally come to an
agreement we all can live with:
Miner will be our (WKPP's) representative to the CDS B.O.D. and general
Membership, and the CDS will support the activities of the WKPP, both in spirit
and wherever else they can, such as assisting us with Project needs of a
generic
nature designed to furthur our goal of research and exploration.
In turn, we will report our results to the CDS with emphasis on articles
and maps which show how , where and why. I will do this. Jarrod Jablonski will
advise the training committee on any findings we discover in the course of deep
diving activites which he feels would be of value to the membership in the
interest of training and dive safety.
This should put an abrupt end to the bickering, and a beginning to
cooperation that can only prove benficial to diving, cave-diving, and the
environment we conduct this activity in. Parker and Gavin tried to do this, but
it was just not possible in the old days where so few people were involved.
WKPP
now boasts 70 members, so we are a more open group than ever before, and as
such
can be better understood.
I will say that this in no way changes our strict adherence to our own
rules and regs, and in no way diminishes my belief that we are doing things in
the best and safest possible manner, at the exclusion of all other techniques
presently being practiced. This is my opinion, these are our rules. No more, no
less. Any time I become aware of new information to improve on this, I will
impliment it right away.
Lamar and others do not want to argue this, as it is
counter-productive,
and makes people look bad based on thier arguing skills, rather than their
excellent track record, as is the case with Lamar. Besides, we don't care
anyway. We have said our piece on the hose, on neatness, etc, so we will
concentrate future discussion on the details that are more important to all
divers, leaving the obvious just as it is - obvious.
We will attend CDS meetings, and contribute accordingly . Two of our
divers are already on the Board, and the rest I am sure will calm down once the
smoke clears. We also understand from Lamar that Wayne Marshall did not
recommend a withdrawl of our Project status, he was merely asking what it was,
and quesioning why we were critcicising the CDS if we were an NSS project.
This makes sense, as I saw Wayne at Tek, and he said nothing about it - to
him I
appologize for my response.
The answer is that we were criticising people who are no longer with
the Board, and we disagreeed with a few things that are no longer a problem.
The
CDS will now list us as a CDS Project, list us in UWS showing me as Director,
and make room for our information in each issue.
This would not be possible without Hires at the helm, and for
this we
are grateful.
