  Bill, as you suggested, we would rather the regs did not lose any gas as 
opposed to breath too easily. The 250 will dump the tank like the Odin, but I 
only have Odin first stages, so they may be the reason.The tube on the 250 is 
metal, where the mechanism is, and it extends through the body of the reg. 

  I think that if I were to dive cold water, I would just put on the Odin 
seconds for the dive, and do it the wy everyone else does. 

   For our diving, the subtle nuances I mentioned before are the kind of 
perfectionism it takes to stay ahead, but certainly most of this information is 
little known or understood anyway.

   If the Great Lakes guys or you far Northerners don't have the answer to cold 
water diving, then there likely is not a real good one at all.  I don't think I 
would try anything there that you all had not done first.
