Just make sure that if you buy the OMS SS backplate sight unseen, you
are prepared to do a little grinding of the edges yourself. The plate I
got had unacceptably sharp edges, particularly in the slots at the
bottom where the shoulder harness turns the corner to become the waist
belt. This has happened to other people I know, and it took a very long
time for them to get the plate they sent to OMS for warranty work to get
back to them. You are better off doing the finish work yourself. There
was also a problem with stainless steel rings used in the harness
rusting, and there's nothing you can do about that yourself. The older
shiny plates were much better, but some people complained about blinding
sun flashes because the plate was too shiny (George says, paint the damn
thing, but I like bare metal).

Don't get me wrong, all in all it's a nice setup, and one that I'm happy
with. But not until I did cleanup on the plate edges. And as far as
quick turnaround on warranty work, forget it.
