G-man, we use the Odin in the Great Lakes because it doesn't seem to
freeze up no matter what. It will throw ice chunks, but that just
tells you the design is working by keeping the ice away from the
moving parts of the demand lever. Get them tuned right and know how
to adjust them yourself to relieve the finicky part. Mine don't
flutter in even 2 ft of water and totally perform. Further, if I have
a problem with a second stage, I can screw one off the stage bottle
hose and onto the long hose w/o problems to nicely recover both regs
on my back or stage/travel/deco bottles.

I too hate the fact that the Odin floods instantly whenever it's out
of your mouth, but you simply have to be prepared for that as even the
regular 2nd stages do it when not oriented properly on a hand-off or
rip-off. The buds I dive with use the Odin for the same reason: no
freeze-flows. We practice the Odin recovery (exhaust end down when
purging) till it is automatic. I don't even think about except when
I'm with a new diver or on a check-out with my buds.

Why does the leaking happen only when scootering? How is it
happening? I've been in river current so fast the empty freighters
could barely move upstream and mine hasn't leaked. We are talking
power flow as in your two arms around a pipe will be ripped off if you
try to hold yourself there (you have to get behind something and be
prepare to be impaled by timbers when you go down stream when the flow
is strong from a north wind).

I know the Scubapro is a great second stage, but have my doubts about
it and the VX10 in cold water as they have the same basic design that
can freeze the demand lever open very easily... The Odins odd shape
is due to the design that separates the demand lever from the gas flow
that causes the icing. I know, I know, you want your sushi, pie,
cake, mayonnaise fed tuna, and various body parts sucked on all at the
same time, but hey, life sucks and if you're a god you would have all
that all the time and not be such a big tar-fart spewing A-hole at
     times!

Now's your chance for a sushi winner G-man!

Now seriously, does anyone have any opinions on the Scuba Pro and the
VX10 second stages for cold water compared to the Odin/Jetstream? I'm
always interested in the better solution.

Has anyone actually seen the new DR light oring seal? Any good or
does G get to hike his leg up and spew on that too? That is where you
secretly keep your backup reg tightly strapped isn't G? That is where
you head is isn't it? You know, sucking on your little mayonnaise
filled tuna and fake crap you push out while on deco!?

Come on G, I'm beating you here, show us all you can beat your tuna
fish meat! Yea, I'm feeling spunky today, so let 'er rip Spanky boy I
know you're itching for a good bag scratching fight after you played
out CIS. I don't like sushi so don't make me come down there and try
     it on your bill!

     --DD

P.S. I just might be busy working so if I can't hold up my end of the
     fight, will somebody help out?

Oh yea, hey G, if you ever get done with yours, I know a big
constipated 300 lb. Swedish grandma that needs an abrasive
head/mouth/tongue like yours to go clean up her rectum. Take a
Cockruns-not heads up display with camera and we can sell the videos
for $25! Just think of the title possibilities: "George Irvine Doing
It Right Inside Sally Ward's Hershey Highway Tallahassee Power Cave."

No disrespect intended to Sally Ward. You haven't graduated from
Grandma's kindergarten yet you smelly tar baby. Change you diaper,
this one's gonna get messy G-man.

Dave, the Poseiden Odin second stage is the "strokery". Use it on a stage
and get a good second stage, like the Scuba Pro G-250 or the Beuchat VX10.
The latter is less finicky, I use it when going really long. The thing here
is that the Odin sucks water when scootering, it fills with water when you
pass it, thus finsishing off an out of air diver unless you hold the purge
while passing it, and the hose busllshit with the dorky little relied valve
and the special price tag is ridiculousness that only a combination of
Swedish and Dive instructor could come up with "Ve like to make it as hard
as our heads".

Adding more problems to an existing problem should be a no no . -g
