I bought the original bridge at Dema before it's release some number of years ago and have upgraded since to the Bridge II. The orginal Bridge required you to set the mixture following every dive and if it shut off before you got in the water (ten minutes) you had to turn it on before entering. Also, there was only one mode the computer would actually dive in. If you jumped in while in any other mode, it did not function. Finally, the contacts in the face were dificult to operate especially after exposure to salt water. The Bridge II incorporated better contacts and is always ready to go diving regardless of the mode or on/off condition. It is true that once programed to air it will stay that way, but you must reprogram after any nitrox dive. Dive Rite did offer a free upgrade to anyone who owned an original bridge, but I don't know what their current policy is. Givem a call. I have logged about 800 dives between the two models and have found the decompression model to be fairly reasonable for moderate exposures. I have the most problems with the batteries; They tend to give out about every four months. The wrist strap is also a little cheesie. Over all, I think it's a good computer. Hope this helps. Dale S.
