And yes, the discussions have been "lively" to say the least! But, in a way the similarities between the deep/tech/caver divers and the military "tacjet" (tactical) community that I'm familiar with is quite close (and that *IS* a compliment). All work "out on the edge" cheating death just a little or alot each time. Each is technically proficient and "at one" with either their aircraft or their rig and environment in the diver's case. All live out in conditions that the body was not intended (imagine what the circulatory system looks like to a heart valve when suddenly a column of blood weighs 7 times normal in a 7 G high bank turn...now speak of diving at 300+ feet under about 10 atm of pressure...both are "out there") Strong personalities? I should hope so! It's one of your survival mechanisms that permit you to go where you go to do what you do. (otherwise you'd just stay in bed where it's safe and *read* about life like the all too vast majority of people...Aristotle once said, "Man was not made for safe havens"). Neither air or sea is an arena for passive type B personalities. Put strong willed, opinionated people together in the same room and it's inevitable there will be... "discussions"...if you get my drift ;-) I just wish that I knew enough of the tech/caver glossary at this stage of the game to follow the threads! (I was starting to wonder why cavers were messing with sharks until I realized in context that a "cage" was a regulator shield!) Hey! I did say I was a newbie! Again, thanks for the kind words. It's been my honor to be able to contribute something helpful to you folks. I hope to be able to continue to be useful. Mahalo! Robb Wolov
