Subject: DIN fitting compatibilities?
To: techdiver@terra.net
Hi folks:

Can anyone tell me if I will have any compatibility problems with the
following gear combos? I need to purchase new tanks and the only tanks
currently available here in Juneau Alaska (aside from Aluminium 80s) are USD
HP3500s with DIN valves. According to the literature, this tank comes with a
240 BAR DIN valve. I'm thinking of picking up 2 of these in the 100 size.
I'm told they are the same tank as the Sherwood Genesis, is this true?

QUESTIONS

1. My primary regulator is a scubapro MK20. I'll have to special order the
DIN conversion for this reg from a different dive shop. According to my
scubapro catalog, this is a 300 BAR DIN conversion. Any compatability problem
with the above tanks?

2. I'd like to convert over my aluminum 80s to DIN at the same time so I
don't have to fool with a 1st stage screw-on Yoke-DIN converter. Apparently
the only replacement valve I can easily order here in Juneau for my USD
aluminum 80s is the Sherwood 200 BAR DIN valve. Again, any compatibility
problem with the MK20 300 BAR DIN? Is there a better replacement DIN valve I
should try to track down that will work better with the scubapro 300 BAR DIN
first stage?

3. If any of you have any strong opinions as to why I shouldn't go this route
then I would welcome any mail order sources you might suggest. These tanks
will be used as singles, if there are better tanks in the 100 cf range let me
know where to order them from. FedEx will probably add at least $50 to the
price of any tank I have shipped up here from the lower 48 which is why I'd
prefer to buy local if I can. The new USD HP 100s are selling for $295 up
here by the way.

Please be patient if these questions sound clueless. Because of my location I
have to special order everything and I can't check how this equipment will all
fit together until I've actually paid for it and had it shipped here.
