Do it right: take the valves off, put in a plastic plug, put on a carying
strap 
so they are easy to carry and hard to get dropped, and check them in as
luggage, 
pay the extra weight, and be done with it. You can even go one furher, and use 
those little floor cradles for boats that strap in one tank, and they will not 
roll around, slide, or get beat up. Real tough.

 The guy with the suitcase was right about the flames, even Nick nailed him,
and 
I have to nail him for his "out of sight, out of mind" technology - what do you
