There is a group on here that gets their kicks from faking messages. Whatever their reasons or frequency this is not a mailing list devoted to demonstrating how proficient one is at computer fakery. This is a diving list devoted to those who love technical diving of all kinds and who are interested in exchanging information with others freely without having to wonder if the person you are having a conversation with really exists or not. Some method of stopping the fakery and verifying the source of E-mail would be a definite plus. Some have said that no one is really fooled by these fakes, well that is simply not true. The fakes directed at me prompted Ken Sallott, George Irvine, Rick Sankey and others to attack me based on what was said in the faked messages--all of which I would have thought would have been very easy to spot, but that wasn't the case. Other fakes have been more subtle, though just as personally insulting, misleading and demeaning. If an individual wants to criticise another diver or some practice or group, then they should do as the rest of us do, write it up, sign it, post it and take the heat. I hope PGP does get put into place here. JoeL
