[Bent diver and dead engine scenarios deleted] OK, well first I *don't* want to get into a fight over this - do what you want, and works for you. However, one point worth mentioning is that the UK is a small country, with a high population, and hence good SAR cover and a lot of ocean traffic - including many divers - popular wrecks would rapidly become festoned with decaying uplines, biodegradable or no. Also most of them are in very strong tidal areas, and decompressing tied to the wreck would have its own problems. The chances of a boat being able to reach a recom. facility before the helicopter are essentially zero. A scan of incident reports reveals a number of "divers down, engine dead" cases - all resolved by other vessels in the area, without casualties. Now, this may not be an option for you - fine, but you've got to admit your response to JS was, um, "forthright":-) Neal
