What if the shit hits the fan when you've laid out all your line on a 
wreck
and need to deploy a bag? You going to take the time to wind up all 
that line
before ascending?

No, I'll cut the layed out line and ascend on balance left on reel. 

That requires some planning, but if you can't handle that kind of 
planning, you don't belong there.  Beats carrying extra gear as well.

In addition the express ascent scenario that you propose applies if the 
line was NOT deployed for a wreck penetration.  Some of us do not use 
'way back lines' on wreck diving unless penetrating, and even then, 
raerely.

If the line was deployed for wreck penetration, an the feces hits the 
proverbial fan, you will have to come out, and re-deploy the reeel that 
you cut rather fiddle with the extras.
