Tom, as bad as I hate to stick my nose in one of these non-productive exchanges
I guess that I had better set the record straight in a couple of areas that
directly involve me. First, as far as history goes I have a much greater concern
for the future than for that which is no longer in anyones control and that is
the direction that I try to move in.
Secondly, I was disturbed to see a couple of facts that were distorted and they
are that these felows were doing all technical programs thru Tri-Mix and
instructor as well as instructor trainer. Tom, you know me better than that,
such a thing is not even a possibility. What is true is that these two Swedish
Instructors represent the ANDI franchise in Scandinavia and have long been
Instructor Trainers for ANDI as well as Course Directors for NASDS. I worked
with these instructors for the entire month of January and I can assure you that
their training, skills, and attitude are all of role model quality as I accept
nothing less.
One other point is that you state that an in depth discussion was conducted, I
can tell you that this was not the case as I personally supervised every moment
of their time. there was a brief discussion and it was in Swedish, so i culd not
tell you exactly what was said, but I can tell you that it was brief in length
and in scope. Based on my discussion with them after the dive I would say that
what they said was either misunderstood or misrepresented to some degree. They
are loyal supporters of the ANDI system and maybe to them the whole situation
seemed a little adversarial. I had hoped to see you on the next days dive, as
you know we were blown out. I am glad things are going well for you and Patti,
hard work does pay off in the end.
I do think that our direction as an emerging dive community would be much better
served by concentrating on a positive direction for the future, rather than on
the negative aspects of "history" be they true or false they are still only
history.
