Subject: Co2 Cartridges

When did the Diving manufacturers stop incorporating c02 cartridges into
BC's? And why?

Say your at, it dosen't matter pick a depth say 160 feet, forget the type
of rig your diving. You're Mr. Anal Tech Diver and you don't forget
anything. Suddenly your first stage blows a seat,
you reach for your backup indepent rig and it's out as well. Forget about
redundancy, your on the bottom and your out of air. It was one of those
days. Sure you've still got a 40 minute hang but it dosent mantter cause
your sucking on your own lips.

Wouldn't it be nice to reach down to that little round ball, give it a yank
and get a painful but free ride to the surface instead of trying to swim
it, breathe water on the way up and sink?

Surely the cons such as, accidental discharges, rusted cartridges etc.,
don't outway that one in a million chance that you could get a free ride to
the surface, a bit crooked, but never the less not face down at 160 feet
with algae in your mouth. Does anybody out there still use them?
