The quality of the bag is top notch, but the finish work on the plate leaves a lot of room for improvement. I went through a nightmare on this issue. I bought an OMS, noticed the problem you mentioned, and presumed that OMS would fix it, since I had received what seemed to be a plate from a new supplier, and the finish quality was not acceptable. I sent the stainless steel backplate back to OMS, and never got any response. At all. Finally, when the dealer that sold me the BC graciously offered me a refund, I took it. Later, when I had cooled down a bit, and realized that there was nothing available that quite matched what the OMS is, I bought one again, with the realization that I would have to provide the needed finish work myself. That's what I did, I got a carbide tip for my dremmel tool, and ground off the sharp edges myself. One small bit of advice: when you grind stainless with a fine carbide bit, wear gloves. It took me days to get the itchy stainless steel slivers out of my hands. (Doh! <G>) Good luck. -->Aaron ---------- From: Chris Hellas[SMTP:chris@de*.de*.co*.uk*] Sent: Wednesday, January 24, 1996 7:39 AM To: techdiver@terra.net Subject: OMS wings I have recently changed over to OMS wings with a stainless backplate. The quality is extremely good, but I am experiencing some chaffing of the webbing where it enters the backplate.Whilst this is not serious at the moment it brings into question the longevity of the product since they're only three months old.I have faxed OMS to ask for their comments. Has anybody else experienced this? George, if you pick this one up, what grade is the webbing utilised on the video?
