Subject: That long hose thang...

Again, NOT TRUE. If you can make the decision then you have time to
take one or two quick breaths and hold it. Pass off your long hose
and check the other reg. If the other reg is fouled at least you have
had air more recently than the OOA diver, you shouldn't be stressed
and can deal with it... If it becomes necessary at that point, you
can buddy breathe. The point is that the OOA diver getting a reg that
MAY NOT work would REALLY create a stressful situation that could
deteriorate QUICKLY and have negative consequencs for BOTH of you!

Practicing ONE WAY of doing things is eminently easier than having
different techniques for different scenarios... ONE WAY of doing
things makes it easy to remember and therefore less likely to screw up
when you NEED to do it.

And, when it comes time to switch to a deco or stage bottle, because
you've been breathing the long hose, stowing it away is an easy one
person task. Nothing dangling, hanging loose, etc.

It really is simplicity itself.
