I've got some wood I recovered last year, parts of a musket stock from the Civil War era. I've already put it thru the Muriatic Acid soak, and then many months soaking in PEG, and its now free of crud and presumably strengthened. My question for now is that the wood is still black, is there anything I can go about that (it was encrusted in black crud) ? I have it soaking in fresh water again, until I decide what to do (if anything) further before taking it out to dry air. Thanks for any info. Mike
