When I turn my head to the extreme left with my current setup, the hose 
pulls at my regulator. As my hose tends to snag on wreck junk 
(particularly when lobster hunting), I see George's long-hose technique 
as a solution to both these problems. Also, when considering the overall 
expense of your rig, I don't think that the cost difference between a 
long and short hose is a reasonable consideration.
