Interesting...I'm looking at an (alledged) TDI flyer from a local shop in 
seattle, and it indicates that all the gear I mentioned (plus some) is 
required.  The implication is that TDI requires it, but maybe it's just 
the instructor in question.  Maybe the shop wants to  sell more gear.  I 
don't know...

'course some agencies offer "cards" for spearfishing, night diving, etc.
