The following was posted on Compuserve Scuba Forum in the 'Technical Diving' Section. _ I'd love to see somewone do it - hell I'd even pay! Question:- Can someone tell me if you ever tried an emergency ascent breathing from your bc bladder bottom mix (likely mostly inflated at depth to buoy the doubles) and exhaling in the other bc bladder, instead of the water, to maintain buoyancy? We'll assume that you left your deco bottles on the anchor line and no diver is in sight.. That should give you the couple of fresh mix breathes needed to go to first deco stops. Just curious. Answer:- A few years ago we did some practice with re-breathing the gas that was in the BC. You are quite right the diver is able to get several breaths, however depending the size of the bladder time and breaths are limited to excessive C02 build up. Never tried it during ascent, I think this would very difficult. Take Care AaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrRRRRRHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....
