John, usually when someone down in our (my and Tom's) neck of the woods goes through a confession like you just did, it usually ends with , "So how do I tell them about my brother, the Buffalo Bills fan?", but I see you are serious. I just had a reg serviced at Underseas Sports, and the owner Matt Stout, saved the seat and showed it to me, saying, "they have not made this seat in fifteen years". I told him I bought it when I was in college, and the first stage still did not need service. In fact, the same hoses are still on it. I have the bc that came with it, a fine Scuba Pro that I wish they still made, which my kids use (it is bright orange - down here the biggest risk is getting hit by a boat). In fact, the old gear is pretty good, if it was good to start with. You may find that in the future, as you dive more, you may want to move on to some new stuff due to the expense of getting gear redone, if you can not get the parts yourself. I would be more concerned with your personal condition, whatever that may be. I just did a condo dive today in horrifying seas ( the only way to beat everyone to the lobsters is to go out when they are surfing). The wind was howling, the seas were hitting eight feet, and the boat came down on me while I was trying to take off my weight belt, after I had taken off my tank, and the whole thing got away from me with the scooter under the boat. I recovered it all, but I used more gas right there than I did on the whole dive - I was really struggling, and a breath away from an accident. I felt like I was in horrible shape, but I can't immagine what would have happened if I really was. -G
