Phil Pheiffer thought that fake post about me resigning from
WKPP was real, and asks why I would wuit sometihng I had worked
so hard at, and if one of our major backers had leaned on me.
While this was not my post, I would like to use it to point
out that we have no "backers" who will ever influence what I
say or do, especially when it comes to safety, which is the
crux of the argument between me and our detractos. If they do
not like my attitude, they can choose to go elsewhere with their
support. If I want something, I will buy it myself before I will
compromise anything. If I use a piece of gear, that means it is
the absolute best for the job.
For example, I use Dive Rite wings (modified to not leak),
and I have Dive Rite manifolds on two of my sets of 104's (properly
plugged) even though I do not like the attitude of these guys and
obviously do not use other things they make. I use DUI dry suits,
they gave me one, and I bought two, and they hate my attitude, but
too bad - Bill Deans is our sponsor for that stuff, and if I want
more, I will buy more. Etc.
The very absolute last thing I will ever do is what the other
groups out there have done - team up with some money and compromise
all of their principles. What all of these guys need is to get
Nike to sponsor them, give them a set of runnning shoes, and
show them how to use them. - G
