Dear Mr Appleyard The A.P. Valves bcd is a buddy commando manufacutured in the U.K. by A.P. Valves. It is a double bladder stab jacket that is intended for emergency breathing from the inner bladder. The inner bladder has, according to company literature, an antibacterial additive that is intended to keep the bladder interior sterile. The unit is also extremely durable, I have used one now for about 4 years and would have at least a thousand dives on it in that period, sport, commercial as well as teaching in chlorinated pools. Other features making this unit a likely candidate for a rebreather conversion include a manual gas injection system featuring a built in .6 litre 232 bar bail out bottle, the A.P. Valve breathing apparatus that allows breathing directly from the bag or pony bottle, and the availability of modular plumbing from the factory. As to how far along is the conversion, I am still trying to find a scrubber stack design, the rest of the work is just plumbing. > >> >>>I would like to construct a fully closed circuit O2 rebreather. How far have you got with the conversion? >
