Andrew,

I have a Viking sport suit which *had* one of the inflator valves you speak 
of.  I broke two of them on seperate dives and eventually changed to a 
Viking Pro inflator.  It comes with its own dedicated hose, but you can 
replace the connection nipple on the valve with a standard BC type and use a 
normal inflator hose. Had no problems with the pro valve, although it is a 
little stiff to operate.
