Greetings! Well, I've just gotten my full cave kit! (ok, so its not so exciting for you, I think its great!) Anyhow, I've got a question about backup lights. I'm curently using the 4aa cell Pelican saber lights (3 of em) as a backup to my spectrum 14. I know I've seen a recommendation for a 3 C-cell light, but do not remember the name of the mfg or the model. I also recall that one of them was no longer manufactured, which won't help me a whole lot. So, I've examined two 3 C-cell lights, and one 6 C-cell light which seem to be ok, and I'd like your opinions. 1) Pelican Super Saber - 3 C cells. Ok, but I'd have to drill/punch out the pin that holds the clip so that I can fasten it via a better connector. 2) UW Kinetics (model forgotten) 3 C cell light. This one seems much more streamlined, and has a nicer on/off switch than the pelican. 3) UW Kinetics (model also forgotten) 6 C cell light. Now, this seems to be an ok light. Its fatter then the 3 cell, but still streamlined, more power, good mounting system. I forgot to look at bulbs, so don't know the types or power outputs. Also, where do you put the lights when you are kitting up hogarth style? It seems to me that you would use a SS split ring on the light w/ a clip (one that requires a thumb to open) on the butt of the light and fasten that end to the D rings on your chest. The other end gets an inner tube section or 'ranger band' on the head of the light to hold it against the bottom of the harness near the belt. Harness question: I've seen harnesses that cross in back, in front, and don't cross at all, each with chest strap or not, and the questions are: Any particular reason for one cross style or another? If you use a chest strap, what holds it vertically in place? Seems it could slide through about a 6" range up or down. Crotch strap - I've only seen a single strap, and it seems to me (not having worn one) that it would nicely squash a nad if you put any load on it, which you would do if you were scootering. Does anyone use dual straps, one around each leg like a swiss seat rappelling harness? Perhaps this cuts off the legs of a drysuit from being able to equalize? Anyway, thanks for any responses, I'll let up on bandwith now. -WES
