I don't want to wade into the debate about how clearcut the advantages are in taking antioxidants to reduce the liklihood of an O2 hit. But, I think you will find that after taking your 2000 to 3000 IU's of vit E(much higher begs toxic reactions from the fat soluable E) , that vitamin C could make a much larger contribution as an anti-oxidant. One brand in particular, manufacturer name "ALACER", the product name is "SUPER GRAM II", is a totally reacted set of mineral ascorbates, which can be taken in dosages far beyond most other vitamin C's on the market without stomach distress. When I'm competing in the {bicycle} racing season and under maximum stress, I'll take up to 20,000 mg per day, 2000 mg per two to three hours. This continually flushes out free radicals and unwanted byproducts of oxidative metabolism (and allows a competitive cyclist better recovery and less chance of illness when close to peak performance----by removing free radical damage to cells--a major stress to the system, all other maintanence/ repair and basic cellular functions become more robust). For an extreme duration cave dive, a powdered version made by ALACER could be mixed with water or a sports drink (with the ideal 2000mg /2 hrs drinking time concentration) and placed in a drinking container like a Camelbak, which could be sipped every 30 minutes or so to prevent dehydration, maintain energy, and continue MAXIMUM anti-oxidant protection, after a 2000 mg dosage was ingested from the capsules just prior to the dive..
