This of course raises the question of what is the "most effective standard
treatment".

The ORIGINAL question was whether taking antioxidants, as opposed to NOT
taking them, helped avoid O2 toxicity.

This guides the experimental design in the direction of "no antioxidant"
vs. "antioxidant" and just about requires inducing O2 tox hits in the test
subjects.
