I keep seeing these references to how rebreathers are going to enable you to dive outrageously deep for days on end. The latest issue of Discover Diving has an article about the Cis-Lunar MK3. They make mention in the article how the sport unit will allow you to dive to 218fsw for 9 hours. They also show a picture of someone in a pool wearing the unit with the caption about testing to 900fsw for 27 hours. I don't understand this. Are they implying that by using a rebreather you no longer have to worry about decompressing? Or are they saying that now it no big deal? You just do your hangs and not worry about it because you have mega-breaths of gas to breathe. The frontal picture of the diver with the Cis-Lunar on is a bit intimidating. The guy looks more like he's ready for a moon walk than any diving. Does anybody have any hard delivery times for a "sport" rebreather? Everybody quotes a price of US$5000 for the sport units. I just wonder how much it's going to cost you to service it between dives. Some how I can't see the local shop putting in a LOX storage and converter system just to make filling my rebreather economical for them. (LOX is much cheaper than tanks of O2, also more dangerous, but so is breathing :) ) Dan Kell
