John Crea says: > I especially have a problem with >the inclusion of DCI in the statement, as I know of NO published reports >on Vit. E and DCI, let alone any that PROVE that Vit. has a beneficial >effect. John makes a good point...totally defendable in fact...DCI remains one of the great mysteries but saying vitamin E will help manage DCI risk seems premature at best...foolish to be perfectly honest. It may be argued that those divers who take their responsibilities seriously enough to throw a few mega-vits into the morning's fruit salad on the off-chance they may do some good, have probably also weighted the scales in their favor by hydrating well, maintaining a good level of cardio-vascular fitness, watching body-fat ratios, and practicing conservative and/or well proven decompression procedures. The real problem with the statement is that some less prepared divers...fat, hungover, short-winded, and who breach like beluga whales after every dive....allow me some hyperbole here....may get the impression that popping a handful of vitamins is like waving a magic wand. Take vitamin xyz and all predisposing factors for DCI are washed away. I see that as a formula for real problems...Just an opinion... ++++++++++++++ STEVE LEWIS ++++++++++++++ ++++++++++++ TDI Canada I.T. ++++++++++++ + E-Mail as above or: diver@mu*.ne* +
