Hello, I was fortunate to start diving in the early fifties with helmets and scuba. At that time, it was very uncommon to see a woman in diving. Today, a good percentage of the divers are women.........well educated, and careful divers. It is not uncommon to see women who can physically and intellectually outdo their male counterparts in diving activities. Our club, "Vaqueros del Mar", has 80 women and 135 men, all active divers. Although some women tend to chill faster in cold California waters compared to their male counterparts, they have equal endurance and stamina. They also tend to be more careful and calculating. We can all be thankful that women have brought the beautiful colors into diving equipment.....which has added a safety factor (it's easier to spot your buddy). I remember the 'good old days(?)' when dive clubs were amost non-existent, when you went to the beach and looked for someone to buddy- up with, never hardly saw a woman on the beach, dive equipment was always black and ugly..........Today, things are much better!
