Mr. Phil Sharkey asked me to post this. Direct comments to him at the e-address following this notice: aquaCorps the journal for Technical Diving Dear Industry Member, I am writing you to invite you to participate in a unique event to be held next month in Key West, Florida, the KEY WEST REBREATHER FORUM. As you are probably aware, today, there is a tremendous interest in rebreathers, and many believe that the technology is poised to make major inroads into the self-contained diving marketplace. However, there appears to be a number of significant issues that have yet to be resolved including: Market acceptance, liability, training and safety. These issues are likely to impact all of us involved or interested in rebreathers, and unless resolved, are likely to slow the dissemination and acceptance of this technology in the market. Hosted by aquaCorps Journal, the objective of this hands-on industry forum is to bring together manufacturers, training organizations, insurers, contractors, potential resellers, instructors, and professional users to discuss rebreather technology, and hopefully to resolve some of the outstanding issues and clear up the many myths that abound. By being proactive, we can hopefully avoid some of the problems that have arisen with regards to other diving technologies, and in doing so, help establish the market for this emerging tool. Please note that space is limited to 100 people and we will be accepting reservations on a "first come, first served" basis. If you have any questions please feel free to call: the aquaCorps office at 305.294.3540. If you'd like to receive a faxed preliminary agenda and reservation from please call the office or fax to 305.293.0729. If you'd like to receive the agenda by e-mail, write to Phil Sharkey at WHITE.SHARK@GE*.GE*.CO*.
