(and no I'm not trying to be difficult). Are these people not running a reel from the entrance to the permanent line? and even if they are doing a traverse (which I've not trained for yet) aren't you suppose to dive both sides and install lines? > For those of you unfamiliar with Yucatan caves, might I call your attention > to the ridiculous 300' cut back of the lines in the Peacock I cavern. If you Now I did do part of my Intro in Peacock this past May. At that time the permanent line was located just at the bottom of the (first?) chute. I thought (not that I have a wealth of experience) this was reasonable (and made for what I thought was a decent Intro level lesson of managing the line going up/.down the shaft and anchoring under the brick at the bottom (and then tying off on the permanent)). In case I;ve confused the entrances this is the one that leads back toward Pothole. Have they moved the permanent line back further? I've got my marshmellows out again in anticipation of flames, but all of the above are honest questions (from the viewpoint of an Intro-level student) Mike
