Subject: Copy of: Instructor Certification

Gerry,

>if I would say in writing that my friends shop was not following
>proper standards I would receive my certification card. We discussed
>how this was blackmail and very unprofessional especially between two
>instructors.

The first and foremost question is - *was* this shop indeed violating
standards? As a "professional" I believe you are required to report
such violations.

>The shop's name won't be mentioned since the what happened effected the
>relationship between BoB and I, not the shop.

Ah, but, it WOULD shed some light on the picture, especially if it's
one that is known to be "shady" (I'm being polite, not sure why), and
there ARE a few of them around. I can only surmise that it's one
in/near NY/Long Island since the Scuba Depot is in Mineola, NY.

>The main reason for this posting is because I to had a lot of respect

>why should outsiders ?

First of all, not ALL dive "professionals" deserve respect. I
*personally* know several that I wouldn't let clean my wetsuit (and I
do pee in it).

>As for diving NITROX, thats why I was in a nitrox class. Being an
>Instructor I have trained many divemasters, physics and physiology are
>not new subjects to me.

Well, having taken the divemasters physics and physiology "testss" as
they're called, there just isn't very much "meat" in these courses. I
also know some instructors that don't have much of a real clue about
how the physics and physiology REALLY works.

>Excuse me but :
> """ So, you want to go from being a PADI Instructor to a
>tech instructor in less than a year... """
>I didn't write that !!

No, but, you DID post TWO mail messages - the 2nd one asking Tom about
your instructor status. So, my statement holds - you want to go from
never having done nitrox to being an instructor in a year. Maybe you
didn't use the *exact* words I put down, but, it's clear as day that
what you wanted.

>I did plan on being a Nitrox Instructor. Even with my limited
>knowledge I know the difference.

Well, there ARE several different levels of nirox instruction.
You mean you ONLY wanted to teach basic nitrox? not advanced or
tech?

>As for Nitrox diving experience : I have been diving for about a year
>on nitrox with various mixes and I don't (do) plan deco dives.

It seems that Tom has already replied to you... While Tom and I may
not agree on all aspects of diving - I respect him and believe he is a
man of good character. He seems to be saying that you are NOT and
that there is documented proof. He also says that there HAS been
communication ongoing... And, Tom mentiond that YOU threatened to
blackmail him.... Gerry, Gerry, your case isn't looking good...

IANTD may have some problems, but, my respect for them has just gone
UP a notch.

Ok, balls in your court! Batter up...

Perhaps you would like to enlighten us with some of the other shops
you have worked for previously (before this latest fiasco)...

Say - how deep do you dive on air... :^)
