Mes Amis, Please. Someone out there is going to pop a blood vessel. Mr. Einspenner, I've conducted one dive with M. Dufour and I did not notice any weenieness, but then you may think me a poor judge of diving prowess. Incidently, you failed to mention the circumstances under which you formed your studied opinion: I would be interested to hear about it. You also mentioned having read some of his stories on Scuba L. I have not had that pleasure, but I *have* read two articles of his: one in English about diving in Escoumins and another in French about a recent dive trip in Kingston, Ontario. I found both very interesting, and redolent with the enthusiasm of a diver who has recently discovered that there is more to this pastime than was covered in his basic openwater course, and who is beginning to enjoy and understand the added responsibilities that accompany diving under more extreme circumstances than those found beneath the turquoise waters of the more well-travelled dive destinations. Am I missing something? And finally, what do you find offensive about the <quasi-political> statements with which M. Dufour signs his E-mails. I find them rather interesting and thought-provoking. I am a Canadian by choice (a decision made after spending some time in South Africa and Australia) and as such would prefer Quebec remains part of this country; you apparently feel the same way. However, you do not seem to understand the subtleties of Canadian politics. I believe that by trying to break away from the anachronistic grip of the English Queen and her drunken, besotted, aristocratic cronies, Quebec is presenting all Canadians with an opportunity to re-examine our policital and social status with a fresh, perhaps Republican, outlook. If I may suggest, you might broaden your comprehension of this subject by a little historical research and intercourse with some people who actually live in Quebec. (Naturally, verbal intercourse should be sufficient, but you may indulge yourself to whatever excesses you find necessary for the circumstances.) I have taken the liberty of sending M. Dufour a private E-mail suggesting to him that he try to keep his use of certain fine anglo-saxon words to a minimum and have also suggested that he refrain from using the English spelling ARSE in postings on this forum and stick to the more accepted ass. I have also introduced to M. Dufour the term <wanker>, which although out of favor in recent years as a descriptive, seems somehow apt in this case. Steve Lewis diver@mu*.ne* stevel@vi*.on*.ca*
